I don’t care what anyone says about Korra sinking Makorra shipping because I way I see it she is just like Aang in that aspect. She’s not really giving up on Mako like many have said already, she’s letting him be there for Asami in her time of need. If you ask me I say she is selflessly letting her crush go for him and not being selfish about what she wants. For gods sake she’s the bloody Avatar I think if she really wanted Mako she could take him but she doesn’t. 

As for Makorra only time will tell what will happen. Look at Kataang it didn’t happen until after the war ended. Aang did the same thing when Katara went after the guy who killed her mother. I wouldn’t worry to much about relationships yet when Amon is still a major threat, Korra has many other things to focus on right now.
